Cofresco Foodservice – maker of the award-winning Wrapmaster range – is delighted to once again sponsor the British Culinary Federation (BCF) Young Chef of the Year 2018.
Now in its 21st year, the prestigious competition which is open to chefs aged 23 years and under, was set up by the BCF to encourage and support the industry’s next generation of chefs in achieving culinary excellence, whilst giving them a stage in which to showcase their talent and skillset.
Finalists will battle it out at the Bonnet Kitchen in the University College Birmingham on Monday 5th November 2018, where they will be required to prepare a three course meal – including a vegetarian starter whilst highlighting British produce throughout – for two covers within two hours.
Adrian Brown, Managing Director, Cofresco Foodservice said of the sponsorship:
“We’re honoured to return as a sponsor of the BCF’s Young Chef of the Year competition. Working with professional kitchens for over twenty years, Wrapmaster is invested and passionate about chefs and especially in supporting the next generation of talent. We wish all the finalists the very best of luck!”
In what is set to be a thrilling two hour final, competitors will be judged on a comprehensive criteria covering everything from professional techniques and culinary skills, to hygiene practices in the kitchen.
Commenting on hygiene practices being a key judging criteria at the final, Adrian added;
“In all kitchens, cleanliness of work space, staff hygiene, minimisation of bacteria and crucially, cross-contamination are key considerations for chefs. It is really encouraging to see the BCF recognise hygiene as a major judging criteria and we are proud to support the finalists in maintaining high hygiene standards throughout the final.
Each chef will be provided with a Wrapmaster system and products to dispense. Our professional kit is hygienic, safe to use, as well as dishwasher safe, and will help our finalists in securing those all important points for good hygiene practise.”
The winner will be presented with the David Bache Trophy, together with a cheque for £500, invitation to winner’s lunch with Villeroy & Boch, framed certificate, winner’s commemorative plate and seeded entry into the National Young Chef of the Year final.
Wrapmaster is part of Cofresco Foodservice, a division of Melitta UK Ltd. The award-winning range includes the new Wrapmaster 3000, Wrapmaster 4500, the Wrapmaster Duo which dispenses two types of material, or can be used for large volume users of one material and the Wrapmaster Compact.
