Cofresco Foodservice – maker of the award-winning Wrapmaster® range – is extending its commitment to young chefs by once again sponsoring the British Culinary Federation (BCF) Young Chef of the Year 2019.
Giving chefs under 23 years of age a platform to showcase their talent, the BCF junior contest is designed to help those starting a cooking career achieve culinary excellence. With the chance to win the prestigious David Bache Trophy and a cheque for £500, the annual competition is a key event for students and young chefs, keen to show what they’ve learnt.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Adrian Brown, Managing Director, Cofresco Foodservice said:
“We’re delighted to once again be supporting this important culinary event. With every year that passes our chefs face new challenges and the standard gets higher and higher. We are looking forward to a fantastic day of cooking at the finals, in what will be the 22nd year of the competition.”
Finalists will battle it out at the University College Birmingham on Monday 11th November 2019. In just two hours, the chefs will need to prepare a three-course meal – including a vegetarian starter for two. In what is set to be a thrilling final, competitors will be judged on a strict criterion covering every aspect of cooking, from professional techniques and culinary skills to presentation and hygiene practises.
To support the finalists, each chef will receive a Wrapmaster for their station. The professional dispensing systems have been developed for safe and speedy cutting of film, foil and baking parchment. It can also be wiped down and disinfected in a commercial dishwasher to minimise cross-contamination.
Adrian added;
“The BCF Young Chef of the Year gives entrants the opportunity to really test their skills and gain valuable experience to take back into their own kitchens. With special diets, cross-contamination and hygiene all to consider, we hope Wrapmaster will offer clear benefits during the final.”
Wrapmaster is part of Cofresco Foodservice, a division of Melitta UK Ltd. The award-winning range includes the new Wrapmaster 3000, Wrapmaster 4500, the Wrapmaster Duo which dispenses two types of material, or can be used for large volume users of one material and the Wrapmaster Compact.
