Wrapmaster® Demonstrates Continued Support to Young Chefs with BCF

14th September 2023

Cofresco Foodservice, maker of the award-winning Wrapmaster® range, is proud to support the British Culinary Foundation (BCF) and upcoming young chefs once again by sponsoring the BCF Young Chef of the Year 2023, BCF Student Chef of the Year 2023, as well as the Student Cook and Serve Team Challenge in April 2024.

The sponsorship is part of Wrapmaster®’s ongoing commitment to support chefs at every stage of their professional culinary career. Now in its 26th year, the BCF Young Chef of the Year will take place on the 13th of November at University College Birmingham and will be followed by dinner and the prizegiving.

BCF’s esteemed competition is an exciting opportunity for young chefs under 25 to showcase their talent on a platform that can give their cooking career a head-start! Successful finalists will have the chance to secure the coveted David Bache Trophy, a gift from Wrapmaster®, a Grass Fed Irish Beef Masterclass with Aubrey Allen as well as seeded entry into the National Young Chef of the Year 2024, amongst other prizes.

In the competition, the young chefs will be asked to prepare, cook and present a 3-course menu for two, made up of a starter using Cod, a main using Rib-Eye of Dry Aged Grass Fed Irish Beef and a dessert of their choice in just two hours. Competitors will be marked on their culinary skills shown, methods, presentation, flavour and of course, hygiene practices.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Adrian Brown, Managing Director of Cofresco Foodservice, said:

“We’re delighted to be able to continue our support of a vital industry organisation such as the BCF and to see the return of the Young Chef of the Year competition! Encouraging young chefs to explore their talents in cooking and further their career is so important to us at Wrapmaster®, which is why we are proud to support this competition for another year.”

To help finalists maintain the highest of hygiene practices, each competitor will be given a Wrapmaster® dispenser to use in the competition. The award-winning, ultimate chef wrap system has been developed to efficiently cut wrap in one speedy motion, as well as being easily sanitised to avoid cross-contamination.

Adrian added:

“The BCF Young Chef of the Year gives entrants the opportunity to really test their skills and gain valuable experience to take back into their own kitchens. With special diets, cross-contamination and hygiene all to consider, we hope Wrapmaster® will offer clear benefits during the final.”
